BMC updates for compliance with California Senate Bill 327 (SB327)
To equip our devices with reasonable security features to comply with California's Senate Bill No. 327, which took effect on January 1st 2020, new BMC firmware packages have been issued which require users to change their password after logging into their BMC for the first time.
Description:
- Upgrade code base to AMI v12
- Modify FRU size to 4096 from 256 bytes
- Enable boot logo
- Fixed user ID 1 IPMI message set to false
- Add and modify Event-Only sensors to comply with the sensor list v006
If upgrade BMC from old version RR11.5 code base to v4.07 V12 code base, it could only use socflash for update due to different code size.
After BMC is upgraded to above v4.xx version, all socflash/yafuflash/WEB works.
Important!
The BMC firmware v4.07 requires 64MB BMC chip. Deploying BMC firmware v4.07 to earlier S8030 with 32MB BMC chip shall cause permanent system failure and the system cannot be revived in the field.
The BMC firmware v4.07 CANNOT be deployed to S8030 with 32MB BMC chip. Please be sure to check the S/N of your S8030 by reading FRU data under Product Information before updating. You can refer to "S8030 R02 Shipment SN with 32MB BMC ROM.xls" and "S8030 R03 Shipment SN for 32MB BMC ROM.xls" to check if your S8030 is using 32MB BMC chip after downloading and unzipping the BMC file.
Please note you need to turn off AC cycle first after upgrading BMC FW to V12.
