Tyan® transports data centers to the next level with AMD EPYC??? 9004



In the pursuit of higher performance in the data center, the latest AMD EPYC 9004 Series CPUs aim to meet the demands of today's memory hungry AI, ML and HPC applications. With an increased core count (up to 96 cores), plus support for DDR5 DIMMs, next-generation PCIe Gen 5.0, Compute Express Link (CXL), and increased thermal loads, the 9004 Series processors are designed to boost both performance and efficiency.

The new AMD architecture offers a number of other advantages for data center deployment, namely an increase in memory channels (up to 12), which enables support for up to 24 DIMMs on a single socket platform - ideal for applications that require a high memory footprint. AMD EPYC 9004 Series CPUs also provide 128 PCIe Gen 5.0 lanes in a 1 socket server and up to 160 PCIe Gen 5.0 lanes in 2 socket servers, allowing for increased use of GPUs, FPGAs and high capacity LAN cards.

World class server platforms

Tyan's world class server platform product line features several cutting edge data center products that incorporate the new AMD EPYC 9004 Series processors. The Tyan Transport SX TS70-B8056, for example, is a general purpose 2U server that is designed for a wide range of workloads. Crucially, for customers wanting to take full advantage of 96 'Zen 4' cores and the maximum amount of memory, the TS70-B8056 supports the entire EPYC 9004 SKU stack all the way up to 400W of TDP, plus 24 DIMM slots compatible with DDR5 4800 memory.

The Tyan TS70-B8056 also features 12x 3.5-inch hard drives on the front of the chassis, with the option for four of those to be U.2 NVMe drives. With the addition of 2x extra U.2 NVMe at the rear, this configuration opens up the option to combine high capacity storage with flash storage for a high performance cached storage tier.

High-performance flash

A variant of the S8056 motherboard is the Tyan Transport SX TS70A-B8056. Again, this is a modern 2U platform that supports a single socket EPYC 9004 CPU up to 400W of TDP and is specifically designed for running high density, high performance flash applications. With this in mind, the TS70A-B8056 features 26x 2.5-inch U.2 NVMe drive bays on the front of the chassis with high-end networking support provided by a PCIe 5.0 x16 OCP v3.0 LAN mezzanine slot. Like the TS70-B8056, it also features 24 DIMM slots.



Last, but by no means least, the Tyan Transport CX GC68A-B8056 is a 1U system that also supports AMD EPYC 9004 Series processors. Featuring 24 DIMM slots with DDR5 4800 memory support plus 12x 2.5-inch U.2 NVMe drive bays, the GC68A-B8056 has been designed with three PCIe Gen.5 x16 slots. This gives you the option of installing up to three high-end NICs to balance networking speeds with high performance flash storage, boosting performance.

Powered by the latest AMD EPYC 9004 Series processors, all three of these Tyan platforms can be deployed to tackle a variety of computationally-intensive applications, ranging from AI and Machine Learning to HPC and cloud computing.
